Volkswind | About us
Volkswind is a specialist in onshore wind energy. Our wind turbines supply thousands of European households with clean electricity.
Volkswind | What we do
Volkswind has been passionately developing, financing and realising wind farms throughout Europe for 30 years. From the initial idea to commissioning, we take on all tasks in the process chain.
Volkswind | Partner for
Together with our partners, we make the energy transition possible. In doing so, we rely on a long-standing, trusting cooperation with land owners, municipalities and business partners.
The global wind industry saw a historic record addition of 117 GW in 2023, making it the best year ever for new wind energy. This represents an impressive increase of 50% compared to the previous year. In total, the total global capacity for electricity generation from wind power has now exceeded the 1 terawatt (TW) mark and now amounts to 1021 GW.
This year has been marked by continued global growth, with 54 countries from all continents building new wind turbines. The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) has raised its growth forecast for the period 2024 to 2030 to 1210 GW, which is a 10% upward correction.
It has taken over 40 years to reach the mark of 1 TW of installed wind power worldwide. According to GWEC, the construction of the next 2 TW will only take seven years. However, the wind industry needs to increase its growth from 117 GW in 2023 to at least 320 GW in 2030 to meet the COP28 and 1.5 degree pathway targets.
The vast majority of wind energy generation continues to come from onshore wind turbines, which accounted for 90.7% of the expansion in 2023. Stefan Gsänger, Secretary General of the World Wind Energy Association, emphasizes the importance of onshore wind power for the global transition to renewable energies.
Some of the most important records from 2023:
In this dynamic environment, Volkswind, as an experienced wind farm project developer, plays a decisive role. With its commitment to the expansion of renewable energies, Volkswind plans to develop over 3 GW of new wind energy capacity in the next few years. These ambitious goals help pave the way to a sustainable energy future and drive the global energy transition.
It is crucial that companies like Volkswind use their expertise and resources to drive the growth of the wind energy industry and achieve the goals of COP28 and the 1.5 degree pathway. As a major player in international wind farm expansion, Volkswind is instrumental in creating the much-needed clean energy infrastructure and accelerating the transition to a low-carbon future.
China, the US, Brazil, Germany and India remain the top markets for new wind turbines, with China setting a new record with 75 GW of newly commissioned capacity. Volkswind will continue to work closely with governments, industry partners and local communities to drive the expansion of wind energy worldwide and make a sustainable contribution to the global energy transition.
