Wind energy has been our passion for over 30 years. We recognised early on that wind energy is an important driver of the energy transition. Back then, we were still labelled as eco-freaks, but today we are a reliable player in the wind energy sector throughout Europe. We have retained our start-up mentality, which still characterises us today.
Numerous wind farms have been successfully planned, projected and realised by us since our foundation. Our wind turbines produce environmentally friendly electricity in many European countries and we are proud to be an active part of the energy transition. With our extensive expertise and pioneering spirit, we are a reliable partner for forward-looking wind energy projects.
Volkswind erected the first wind turbine in northern Germany over 30 years ago. Since then, a lot has happened on the German market and in the wind business across Europe. Co-founder Katja Stommel, now CEO of Volkswind and Head Division Wind at Axpo, has been involved from the very beginning. In this interview, she tells us about the milestones of the last three decades.
