Impressive transport: wind turbine blades reach construction site in Finland

Last week, another significant milestone was reached for the Lålax wind farm in Finland: the impressive wind turbine blades were safely transported to the construction site – a logistical masterpiece.

The wings, which are each 79 meters long and weigh up to 29 tons, were transported on special trucks with extendable trailers. In total, the transport covered a length of 89 meters. For comparison: at 79 meters, the wings are as long as a 26-storey high-rise building.

The route led through the city center of Vaasa, over the Vaskiluoto Bridge and past the market square. To minimize the impact on traffic, the transport was carried out in the evening hours – a spectacular sight that certainly attracted a lot of attention.

In addition to the transportation of the blades, the first tower sections, which had already been delivered to the construction site, were also installed. The Lålax wind farm is thus taking shape.

The Lålax wind farm is being built in the municipality of Vörå and will comprise four wind turbines with a total capacity of 24.8 megawatts once completed. These will generate around 70 million kilowatt hours of renewable electricity per year, which corresponds to the needs of around 17,500 four-person households.

This important step forward brings the completion of the project and the provision of clean, renewable energy for the region much closer.
